General Tools Mounting bolts
To provide proper bearing performance and To mount or dismount SKF Food Line ball To attach SKF Food Line ball bearing units to
prevent premature failure, all relevant pro- bearing units, the following tools are the support surface and to increase the
cedures and cautions should be observed required: hygienic safety for the overall product, SKF
when mounting SKF Food Line ball bearing recommends using hygienic design bolts and
units • a hexagonal key (hex wrench) to tighten or rubberised washers, fig 1
loosen grub (set) screws
As precision components, they should be • a spanner to tighten or loosen the mount- In order to assure the ball bearing unit cor-
kept clean and handled carefully when ing bolts rect positioning and load withstanding, SKF
mounting It is also important to choose the advises to not exceed the machine wall
appropriate method of mounting and to use through holes diameters as per table 4, 5
the correct tools and 7, and to follow the tightening torque
values highlighted in table 2
The method used for mounting SKF Food
Line ball bearing units depends on the:
• overall machine design
• bearing housing design
• method used to attach the unit to the
shaft Fig. 1
